This is in fact true that the Demo somehow is faster, more efficient in packing, and has lesser % of wastage space. Although, what the full version does is still a big time saver. No denying that.. This software is pretty nifty! It packs UV maps very efficiently, saving me lots of work. It's fun to watch it do its job, too!I totally recommend IPackThat if you hate manually packing UVs and need something to do that awful job for you (probably more efficiently than you ever could do it yourself).. Some of my friends say that I have Stockholm syndrome. Why? With 4500+ unwraps in the past year, I might have started to feel empathy, sympathy, and even positive feelings towards unwrapping. Its so bad actually that I am at the point where I even defend unwrapping as an art form.As for IPackThat: I can watch it go for hours, just watching the algorithms combine those adorable UV Islands and knowing this awesome piece of software can do as good a job as me, and in most cases... Even better. It is a relief knowing I can now let my UV-based captors go, knowing they are in good hands :). It used to work, now it doesn't, it's broken. Avoid.. UI is confusing, for example a check box has 3 different states. Checked on, checked off and - . You can look for a help doc embedded in the program but I didn't find it. The PDF I found online was very short on explanation (also can be found at bottom right of this page). Seems to me the only way to use it and to get it to function the way I expect it to is if I also pull up a very large thread on Polycount.com to read through all the questions and answers. Going through it you see a reviewer bring up multiple amazing improvements along with other commenters..years ago..and for a $65 dollar program the updates do not come at all often, the last one was about 16months ago I think. I bought it based off of a review online and I think it has amazing potential especially if the improvements were made that were suggested by multiple commenters. Im curious if the indy version is just being neglected and the Commercial Edition has better features/options...if not, I do not recommend anyone spending $130 on it at this point. I really see this being an amazing tool if it was actually updated and its developer supported the software. Fingers crossed that in the future my $65 will pay off.. Where can I get a perpetual demo version?Demo version worked great. It was fast and had good results. The current purchased version barely functions at all, and if or when you get results, they are mediocre at best. Incredibly slow loading times, even for simple meshes. Packing speed is even worse... beyond slow. As for viewing the current progress, the "Draw Packing" option is useless or does not work (maybe it's just that slow).I can\u2019t figure out how a great working demo version back in 2014\/2015 begets such a terrible commercial version today. Seems like a scam now. What the hell happened? Patent conflict with NDA? Booze? Aliens? What?NOTE: If you want to revert to an older steam version that worked better than current:http:\/\/polycount.com\/discussion\/comment\/2622730\/#Comment_2622730. Gets hung up on itself often and occasionally crashes. Run it again and it will work with varying degrees of success. used to work fine but need some stability updates before I can recommend it to anybody else.. do not buy it..never. Does not work at all. I have tried this on TWO computers. On my laptop it works at 50% CPU BUT the mouse selection does not work, so I can't select groups or anything. On my desktop computer the CPU is stuck at 3% to the most, so it takes FOREVER. I have not yet seen a packing finish on my desktop. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGE!
